Len Lopresti is a fictional character on the HBO drama Oz, played by Carl DiMaggio.

Character overview[]

A Corrections Officer in the prison, Lopresti is a mean-spirited, racist bully who terrorizes non-white inmates. It is also shown that he has an alliance with the Aryan brotherhood in Season 3, having snuck in the heroin to Andrew Schillinger that he would OD from and die, on orders from Vernon Schillinger after Andrew "renounces" his father and gets thrown in the hole after fighting him.

From Season 4 onward, he acts as the supervising officer on death row, where he treats every inmate horribly. The exception of which is Shirley Bellinger, with whom he begins a sexual relationship which was witnessed by Moses Deyell whose cell was across from Bellinger's. Bellinger, on the morning of her execution rats out Lopresti to Leo Glynn that he comes into her cell every night for sex. Lopresti denies this and Glynn tells him that he will have a discussion with him later. During their discussion Lopresti was able to convince Glynn that Bellinger was lying. Deyell confronts Lopresti by saying that Bellinger was telling the truth and that Lopresti was "eating that pussy like it was chicken chow mein." Lopresti slaps his nightstick on Deyell's cell and warns him to never speak about Bellinger again.

He is of little consequence throughout the rest of the series, playing one of the main recurring officers who supervises Death Row. In season 5 however, he is attacked by a dog trained by inmate Greg Penders, who refused to clean up after his dog, provoking Lopresti to attack him.
