After Vern Schillinger's daughter-in-law Carrie gave birth to Vern's granddaughter Jewel, African American inmate Curtis Bennett looked for Schillinger at the cafeteria. He told Vern that he knew Hank and Carrie and she was a prostitute, and Hank her pimp. He also said that probably Jewel wasn't his granddaughter. Schillinger told Bennett that if he lied he will be killed. A DNA exam proved that Jewel was Hank's daughter.
